The entire Boston Celtics team including the coaching staff with the help of Old Mutual Asset Management spread some holiday spirit to patients at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center at two holiday parties today. Celtics players, coaches and owners spent the afternoon visiting patients at Boston Children’s Hospital and hosting a holiday party for Boston Medical Center’s Pediatric Hematology Program at Top of the Hub’s Skywalk Observatory.

At Boston Children’s Hospital, Celtics players including Paul Pierce and Jason Terry, decorated holiday cup cakes and sang holiday carols with patients in the hospital activity center. The players then delivered holiday surprises and cheer to patients who were unable to leave their rooms. The players visited several floors throughout the hospital and met with patients and their family members spreading Celtics cheer and filling the hospital with laughter.

“Every year the team looks forward to this day when we all get to be out in the community and celebrate the holiday spirit with these courageous children,” Celtics Captain Paul Pierce said. “I enjoyed decorating cup cakes and singing holiday carols with the kids to help put smiles on their face.”

At Top of the Hub’s Skywalk Observatory, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, head coach Doc Rivers, Old Mutual Asset Management and the rest of the team attended a holiday party for young patients from the Boston Medical Center’s Pediatric Hematology Program. The children were treated to gifts donated by Old Mutual, face painting, a visit from Santa and games.

“Every holiday season I look forward to spending time with my teammates playing games and helping bring some holiday cheer to these great patients,” Celtics player Kevin Garnett said. “This is a wonderful time of year to give back and it is rewarding to be able to brighten the day for kids who cannot spend the holidays at home with their families.”
