2011 NBA Mock Draft Gives the Celtics A Chance To Retool After Window Closes

It was a good run, but the championship-contending run of the Boston Celtics is over.

The Miami Heat slammed it shut as the Celtics looked old, slow and like younger teams had passed them by. Furthermore, the group lacked any toughness without Kendrick Perkins in the lineup and it's time to get that back.

With Kevin Garnett clearly on the downside of his career, it's time to plan ahead, and someone who can learn under the former league MVP and blossom into a true talent is Jordan Williams out of Maryland.

This is a guy who will provide you energy off of the bench and will be a gym rat as he puts in the work needed to get better at the pro level, just like he did with during his time with the Terrapins.

In short, he's a guy that would fit perfectly into Boston's hard-working culture.

Williams hasn't always been in the best shape, but he's improving, even if his past form will raise some eyebrows among scouts.

As far as his game goes, you have to love how he performs in the post, he has great form and great touch, but must improve his outside shot.

Despite his size, he runs well and will be able to keep up with Rajon Rondo on the fast break, which is key considering the point guard is going to be the centerpiece of the franchise going forward.

With strong leadership in place, Williams could turn into the future at the power forward position once Garnett's tenure ends in Beantown.

Before that day, he could be a great spark plug off of the bench and someone to bring a little toughness to the Celtics.
